Why do Republicans hate black musicians...
Aside from Kanye West, who has drawn their ire, for pointing out(correctly, IMO) that George Bush doesn't like black people; It doesn't seem like the Republicans have much cause to dislike black musicians. After all without black musicians, Brooks & Dunn might be the height of modern musical accomplishment and that is just sad. But they've gone on disliking them anyway. Do you really think if a white singer had flashed their breasts during the Super Bowl their would have been half the uproar that developed. Hell on another channel, at the same time, they were running something called the Lingerie Bowl. Their is no objection to skin, just unsponsored skin. But the worst of Republican tactics in the belittling of black musicians is the trend of upstaging the deaths of great artists, with the deaths of Republican sock puppets. First we had Reagan's death drawing all the media coverage while Ray Charles' passing was barely noticed. And now James Brown is playing second fiddle, to Gerald Ford of all people. The Godfather of soul playing the background to our countries first unelected president(W is the second). When I saw the flags at half staff this morning I thought, damn James Brown is really getting his due. Then I found out it was for Ford, and the disappointment was crushing. Funky Drummer is worthy of a lowered flag, pardoning Nixon is not. All I know now is somebody better make sure that when Aretha Franklin goes, somone is following George H.W. with shock paddles and an IV.
