Bush expected to exercise his first veto...

on the Stem Cell research bill. This is ,of course unsurprising given that Bush's idea of a "culture of life" consists of protecting the unborn, cutting funding for programs to help the recently born, getting those born 18 plus years ago killed in Iraq, and telling those dying of awful diseases that there is no help to be had. The Bushies believe its ok to throw discarded embryos away with the medical waste rather than use them for scientific research that WILL in the future cure/treat horrible afflictions. Perhaps the most infuriating thing about this is that the media doesn't point out that banning stem cell research doesn't save a single embryo. If the Christonazis are really concerned about " all life" they'd be banning fertility clinics, since they are the reason we have all these "extra" embryos. But consistency of thought process has never been a strong suit for this bunch. In the wormhole that is modern Republican logic being both pro-life (abortion) and pro-death(penalty,and anti-medical research) is consistency.

Today is primary day...

here in the state of Georgia, so if you live here get out and vote. Turnout is expected to be light so it's not like it's going to be a vast committment of time. It's our duty to maintain our democracy, and not continue to hand it to fundamentalist jackasses who do vote, by not voting. I recommend Mark Taylor for Gov, Jim Martin for Lt. Gov and Shyam Reddy for Sec. of State if your voting Democratic. If you're voting Republican... then why are you reading my blog? Kidding, I recommend Casey Cagle for Lt. Gov. Let's stop American Taliban chief Ralph Reed before he starts.
